ANTIQUE OVAL TRAYS
Antique oval tray in silver-plated metal from Fratelli Broggi, one of Italy's most important goldsmith workshops. Founded in Milan in 1818, during the 19th century the firm was a supplier to the Italian royal family and various luxury ships and hotels.
The tray features two hallmarks:
- The inscription ‘BROGGI’ alongside ‘Made in Italy’, indicating the silversmith's workshop
- A crowned shield with the initials ‘HGL’, indicating that it was a special commission for a high-profile client (probably a hotel, shipping company or family with a coat of arms)
