The artist has drawn exclusively for us different pieces of tableware inspired by the world of Villa Las Perelli and interpreted in her own personal style, which we have embroidered on a selection of limited edition products.
Carly Kuhn is a Miami-based artist and designer who has collaborated with a number of prestigious brands and companies including Prada, Dior, Oscar De La Renta and the American Ballet Theatre. Her work spans from portraits and fashion illustrations to large-scale murals, restaurant menu designs and logos.
The illustrations in the Carly Kuhn x Villa Las Perelli collaboration reflect our studio's own signature of combining old and new. A selection of 100% Italian-made linen pieces on which we have embroidered each drawing one by one. It includes an apron, a tea towel and four napkin designs.
The high quality linen gives each piece a special texture and feel, making it the perfect blank canvas for a timeless and elegant table.
Linen is a natural fibre of vegetable origin, cultivated as far back as ancient Egypt. The first tablecloths originated in ancient Rome and were made of white linen fabric. Diners sat elbow to elbow in a line, and used it to wipe themselves, resembling today's use of napkins. In Europe, before cotton was known and until the 18th century, linen was the most important textile fibre after wool.
