TOAST RACK II

Antique silver-plated metal toast stand from England.

- The inscription ‘S-LTD’ corresponds to the goldsmith William Suckling. He founded the company Suckling Ltd in 1895 specialising in silver cutlery which he marketed under the brand names ‘BURMESE’, ‘REGIS PLATE’, ‘KINGSWAY PLATE’ (present on this piece) and ‘PLATINE METAL’. His workshops were in operation until 1965 at 40 Tenby St, 35 Albion St and 5 Pope St, Birmingham.

- The contrast ‘EPNS’ (Electro Plated Nickel Silver) identifies the silver plated metal in England, and ‘A1’ indicates the quality of the silver plating which in this case corresponds to the highest.
