ANTIQUE TOAST RACKS
An antique silver-plated metal toast rack from England.
- The inscription ‘WH & S’ stands for ‘William Hutton & Sons’, a company specialising in silverware founded by the goldsmith William Hutton. It started in Birmingham in 1800 and moved in 1835 to 27 High Street (140-146 West Street from 1886) in Sheffield. It used the trade marks ‘ANGLE PLATE’ and ‘CROSS ARROWS’. The business was passed between generations and remained in operation until 1930.
- The contrast ‘EP’ (Electro Plated) identifies silver plated metal in England, and ‘A1’ indicates the quality of the silver plating which in this case corresponds to the highest.
We have selected different antique toast racks made of nickel silver and other silver-plated metals from different places in Europe.
We share the value and authenticity of unique pieces, the importance and care of crafts. Tradition, quality and elegance in the art of setting the table.
