Each piece is made from a solid board chosen by him, which David shapes, smoothes and sands manually. He adds the stamp of our collaboration on bottom one by one and applies a balm from natural beeswax oil, safe for food use.
David Santiago is a Spanish craftsman based in Cantabria, whose workshop designs and handcrafts wooden pieces and furniture for everyday use and enjoyment. We have chosen oak wood for its light tone, its more uniform grain, its texture and its durability.
The wooden boards and pieces that David has made are coated with natural ingredients and oils, 0% VOC, water and solvent free, safe for food use. This will protect them against wear and tear of daily use, whilst allowing the wood to breathe and the exchange of moisture with the environment, as it an open pore finish.
Wood, being a natural product like leather, is prone to the wear and tear of time and intensive use.
Wood is a biodegradable, renewable and recyclable natural material as well as a good thermal insulator, which comes from tree trunks after removing the bark.
Each tree type provides a wood with special characteristics regarding its appearance, colour, hardness, strength and durability.
